I moved to my current country because:  I got the opportunity to join a startup science and technology graduate university in Thuwal, near Jeddah, called King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). I was already working in Canada for several years as a digital content creator and this was a great opportunity to continue telling stories about a new place and subject (sciences).

The three things you need to make it here is:

1- An open mind and the ability to look beyond media misconceptions about Saudi Arabia.
2- An adventurous spirit.
3- A friendly personality as you will most likely live in a gated community as an expat and you’ll need to make new friends from many different cultures

The Best thing about living in my host country has been:
The best thing about living in Saudi Arabia is that it's perfectly located to travel to so many places like Africa, Asia and Europe. Taking a weekend trip to see the Giza pyramids in Egypt is actually possible. I've been on so many adventures and have been able to chronicle a lot of those experiences on my blog.

My favorite experience living here has been…Definitely getting to know local people and the Saudi culture. I also love being able to meet fellow expats from many countries and form life-long friendships. I now have friends from around the world.

If you’re considering living here, you need : Definitely VPN and streaming services to keep up with your favourite shows and news from back home.
Also get a PO box address from an international mail delivery service like in your home country so you can shop online for your products back home and to get your local mail.

The biggest lesson I learned as an expat is...
It's possible to make your dreams come true if you're willing to break out of your set routine and location. We live in one global village and it's important to get the human experience to sample new cultures and ways of seeing and doing things.
