I moved to Tanzania because: of the ample opportunity to create my own path. I was fortunate enough to link with some out-of-the-box thinkers and began seeing the potential in developing a business in the East Africa. I knew that it had to be more to life than the mundane routine that I and many others were experiencing in America. I wanted to experience other cultures and learn through these experiences.

The three things you need to make it here is: are an open mind, an interest in new ideas, and knowledge of the language. Knowing a bit of Swahili will take you far!

The Best thing about living in my host country has been:
how receptive everyone has been. People are friendly and want to help you get acclimated. It’s all love!

My favorite experience living here has been...meeting the [Black] diaspora from around the world who are on a similar journey. Connecting with the locals and foreigners and breaking down the false stereotypes that have been spread to us all.

If you’re considering living here, you definitely need to leave: your heavy winter coat at home. The weather is perfect! It’s truly a paradise.

The biggest lesson I learned as an expat is...
life is what you make it. It can be as adventurous or as dull as you choose.
