The Abtar Family

We moved to our current country because:.. we visited Ghana in 2017, fell in love with the land and the people and made our plans to return for good.We felt the connection between Jamaicans and Ghanaians and knew we were home.
Michael has travelled to numerous African countries on business. As a family, we’ve been to Kenya, Jamaica, St Vincent and Barbados.
Though we’ve experienced other countries, we felt most at home in Ghana.

The three things you need to make it here is: Patience, Humility, Finance.

The Best thing about living in our host country has been:
Just how welcoming the people are. Most Ghanaians you encounter will go out of their way to help you in whatever way they can.

My favorite experience living here has been…We went on an amazing all-day adventure with Guba Tours; that encompassed walking with baboons, holding snakes, meeting an Akan king, chilling at the Royal Senchi (one of Ghana’s finest resorts) and cruising/partying the river Volta on the Dodi Princess.

If you’re considering living here, you need to: Leave behind any preconceived notions that you have about Africa (particularly any negative ones).

The Abtars Boat

The biggest lesson I learned as an expat is...
Just how far very little can go towards making a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
