The Black Expat Files: Tara Jetter

Name: Tara Jetter

Occupation: Entrepreneur

Passport Country: USA

Current Country: Zimbabwe

How long have you lived in your present country?: Almost 4 years

Where can we find you?: On IG: @slim_fit_rasta_chick

I moved to my current country because: My husband was deported from the US to Zim. Our family was separated for 3 years. Then I moved here with the kids on March 1st 2020. We arrived 2 weeks before the lockdown started.

The three things you need to make it here is: Steady cash flow,  ambition and an open mind.

The Best thing about living in my host country has been:
It's peaceful and full of opportunities. I have been able to fulfill my dreams and open my mind to a better way of life.

My favorite experience living here has been…Seeing black people in a new light. Experiencing culture and freedom. Being able to build multiple businesses here.

The biggest lesson I learned as an expat is…the world is way bigger than the US.
